Booking Public Charging: User Preferences and Behavior towards Public Charging Infrastructure with a Reservation Option

Electric vehicles offer a means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in passenger transport. The availability of reliable charging infrastructure is crucial for the successful uptake electric dense urban areas. In pilot project city Hamburg, Germany, public was equipped with reservation option providing exclusive access local residents and businesses. present paper combines quantitative qualitative methods investigate effects newly introduced neighborhood concept. We use methodology combining questionnaire survey focus group discussions as well analyses utilization data. Results show that inner-city parking options are key importance (potential) users vehicles. Hence, concept rated very positively. Providing guaranteed facilities therefore likely increase stock EVs. On other hand, this could large extent lead additional cars consequential disadvantages. study shows openly accessible presently utilized much more intensely than option. Consequentially, evaluated should be part an integrated approach managing supporting efficient concepts like car sharing.
